Visegrad Four Weightlifting Federation Board Meets in Bobrov, Slovakia

The Executive Board of the Visegrad Four Weightlifting Federation (V4WF) held its latest meeting in Bobrov, Slovakia, alongside the 12th European Union Cup. All four member countries were represented: V4WF President Attila Adamfi (Hungary), together with board members Dusan Kovac (Czech Republic), Zdzislaw Zolopa (Poland) and Marek Stit (Slovakia). European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) President Dr. Astrit Hasani and Slovak Weightlifting Federation President Tomas Chovanec also attended.

The board reviewed recent progress made by the federation, including its official registration in Slovakia and a Visegrad Four competition previously held in the Czech Republic. Adamfi stressed the aim of deepening regional cooperation across areas such as coaching education, exchange of technical officials, opportunities for young athletes, and new competition formats.

Among the decisions taken, the board approved a new V4WF logo and agreed to create a dedicated V4WF section on the EWF website. The federation will also begin the process of seeking formal recognition from the EWF, and subsequently from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

Discussions also covered potential new competition formats, including urban weightlifting, as well as the federation's financial framework, operating costs and revenue opportunities. Members agreed on a principle of rotating hosting duties among the four countries, with Poland set to host the 2027 Visegrad Four competition, subject to formal approval.

The next Executive Board meeting is planned for the second half of November, following the 2026 IWF World Championships, when the federation's 2027 programme, budget and development priorities will be further discussed and approved.
