European Weightlifting Federation and Eleiko donate weightlifting platform to International Olympic Academy

The International Olympic Academy (IOA) has inaugurated a new Weightlifting Room at its premises in Ancient Olympia. The facility features a state-of-the-art ELEIKO weightlifting platform and set of weights, donated by the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) and its official sponsor, ELEIKO.

The inauguration was conducted by IOA President Dr Charilaos Tsolakis and EWF President Dr Astrit Hasani. According to the announcement, the room is intended to serve both participants in the IOA's educational programmes and weightlifters from Europe and around the world visiting Olympia, giving them a chance to train alongside learning and cultural exchange inspired by Olympism.

Speaking at the ceremony, held in the presence of IOA Premises Manager Vaggelis Friggis, Dr Tsolakis thanked EWF and Eleiko for the donation, saying the new room strengthens the Academy's mission of linking sport, education and Olympic values at the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

EWF President Dr Astrit Hasani highlighted the importance of bringing weightlifting closer to the world of Olympic education, thanked IOA leadership for the collaboration, and said the two organisations intend to deepen cooperation further, including by organising seminars for EWF administrators in Ancient Olympia.
